Nach dem Tod des Königs Ananda Mahidol (Rama VIII.) 1946 im Borom-Phiman-Palast beschloss König Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX.) die Verlegung der Residenz in die Chitralada-Residenz des Dusit-Palastes.
