Iodine Plant at Oficina Salitrera Santa Laura (see note for colour version).
Like neighbouring Humberstone Santa Laura saltpeter works were closed down in 1960 and gained World Heritage status in 2005. whc.unesco.org/en/list/1178

Danke vielmals, Heidi! Das Klima ist zwar extrem trocken, aber irgendwie scheint das trotzdem alles anzugreifen, da hat es schwer gebröselt...Und auf allem klebte eine Sandschicht.

wirklich eine ungewöhnliche Landschaft und Historie. Die starken SW-Kontraste kommen schön, besonders auf schwarzen Hintergrund. Die Farbversion bringt die Wüstenfarben gut zum Ausdruck und gefällt mir auch gut.

Thanks a lot, Diane! We spent hours there, you could feel the history. There's a very good book by Ariel Dorfman- "Desert Memories: Journeys Through the Chilean North" which manages to catch the essence of this area.
