Xlendi Bay

Xlendi Bay
Xlendi is a village on the SW coast of Gozo. The sheltered harbour was used by the Romans already and quite a few Roman ships were wrecked on the reef at the mouth of the bay. Nowadays tourism is the main source of income, the sea around the steep cliffs with its many caves is a popular diving spot.
The inset photo shows Xlendi Tower , built in 1650 under Grandmaster Juan de Lascaris-Castellar.

Herzlichen Dank, Udo! Die Gozitaner waren bei den diversen Auseinandersetzungen oft die Gelackten. Die Ritter sassen in ihren Festungen auf Malta und die Türken verschleppten ungehindert fast die gesamte Bevölkerung von Gozo in die Sklaverei...

Besten Dank, Reinhard! Steilküsten sind immer wieder faszinierend! Die hier ist aus Kalkstein- die Klippen der Bretagne halten wahrscheinlich länger;-)

Malta (+die kleine Schwester Gozo) sind ausgesprochen fotogen, nicht nur die atemberaubende Steilküste.
