Dancing round the Union Jack

Dancing round the Union Jack
Gentoos at Port Lockroy with Mount William on Anvers Island in the background.
The behaviour and breeding success of the gentoos on Port Lockroy has been studied over many years now. The presence of humans doesn't seem to have a negative effect on them, on the contrary, skuas are less likely to attack the chicks or steal eggs.

Oh this is a fabulous shot Gudrun. I adore penguins and this is a delightful capture. Looks like the one at the back has either just raised the flag or is indeed tied to the flagpole.. Lol!! Perhaps it is a war dance?!!! An instant ffavourite Have a great weekend

Many thanks, Carol! The chick at the flagpole indeed looks like it's tied to the stake;-) They were really funny hopping around, the chicks falling over ever so often.
A good weekend to you!
