Hallgrímskirkja with Klais organ

Hallgrímskirkja with Klais organ
Hallgrímskirkja was designed by Icelandic state architect Guðjón Samúelsson (1887-1950). Construction of the church started in 1945 but the nave was only completed in 1986.
It has a large concert organ built by Johannes Klais, Bonn. The backrests of the benches can be turned so that during concerts people sit facing the organ. For church services the backrests are turned to face the altar and choir.

Vielen Dank, Uwe! Ich kam mir zwar auch klein vor, aber die Kirche ist so hell, dass man das Gefühl hat, Raum zum Atmen zu haben.
