Aurora over Ringvassøya
7.52 p.m.- a night of Aurora watching started promising with a low arc and some more green behind the clouds. The idea was to have the northern lights reflected in the water and ice - it was not to be.

Herzlichen Dank, Thomas! An dieser Stelle hatten urbi und ritli ein Jahr vorher ganz tolle Nordlichter, wo alles grün reflektiert hat! Dieses Mal war das hier das Optimum- aber die Wolken waren dekorativ!

Tausend Dank, Lutz! Hier waren wir auch noch zufrieden und voller Hoffnung, es war ja noch nicht mal 20 Uhr. Das Wetter hat sich danach leider nicht wie gewünscht entwickelt...

Herzlichen Dank, Udo! Das war der (einzige) Moment, wo es ein Bogen war! Man kann auch erahnen, dass hinter den Wolken noch mehr gewesen wäre, aber leider haben in der Nacht die Wolken gewonnen... LG Gudrun

Thanks a lot, tiabunna! We waited for nearly 8 hours, in between we had to retreat to the cars because it was snowing. Patience is the word- sometimes it's rewarded and sometimes not;-)

Gegen kalt kann man was machen mit entsprechender Kleidung, Schuhheizung etc. Auf der Nordlicht-Tour waren übrigens 5 Pano-User dabei, die meisten inzwischen nicht mehr dort aktiv-)

Thank you, Jaap! Go and do it! The easiest way is either staying a few days in Tromsö or travelling with Hurtigruten. Chances for aurora are from mid September to mid April -that is, as long it is dark during the night.

Thanks very much for all the favs, Isabel! This was a very frustrating night, it started so well with this and then the snow came.... You could sometimes detect something green through all the clouds but after many hours it still didn't get any better.
