Hallgrímskirkja with Klais organ

Hallgrímskirkja was designed by Icelandic state architect Guðjón Samúelsson (1887-1950). Construction of the church started in 1945 but the nave was only completed in 1986. It has a large concert organ built by Johannes Klais, Bonn. The backrests of the benches can be turned so that during concerts people sit facing the organ. For church services the backrests are turned to face the altar and choir.

Björgunarsveit - Search and Rescue (3xPiP)

Search and rescue from the Reykjavik area showing their vehicles, typically Icelandic super-Jeeps which are able to cope with river crossings and very rough terrain. The services are run by unpaid volunteers who often risk their lives to get people out of danger. Their work isn't made any easier by a growing number of tourists ignoring prohibitions and basic safety measures so there is an ongoing discussion whether reckless tourists should be billed for their rescue.
