All this brightly coloured party stuff, and miniature garden ornaments and the like, are becoming increasingly popular as grave decoration and visible veneration of the deceased. I thought death was supposed to be monochrome and feelings held tightly at one end of the emotional spectrum. Now I am supposed to applaud the dead as they pass by, instead of removing my hat. Death has become day-glo. In hindsight, permitting green chippings probably began the slide.
