As usual I've posted my poor sketches along with those that are not so bad.

One of the nice things about working with charcoal is the choice of line or shadow. In this drawing I started with the side of the charcoal stick, laying in the darker areas, the shadows, rubbing, spreading adjusting them with my fingers, and lastly, throwing in just a few lines to delimit the figure.

I didn't do it this year but I'll often take a break from our cold Alaska winters with a trip to the Orient.
None the less the idea often crosses my mind during these drawing sessions.
