Thank you for the visit, Eric. I do enjoy the quick studies and perhaps that is why I enjoy doing sumi-e, Japanese brush painting, because the ink is so fluid and the paper so very absorbent that one spends 15 minutes grinding the ink but, because the brush must move fast on the 'rice' paper, only 3 or 4 minutes painting. None the less, while grinding the ink, one prepares and reviews every single stroke .

Interesting Jim ; and a good exercise where one must have a definite inspiration before starting inking, right?
Thanks for sharing. I'm discovering this 墨絵 concept, which I love the so specific style otherwise.
