CD 230 glass insulators used on series lighting circuit regulator pole

CD 230 glass insulators used on series lighting circuit regulator pole
Bluffton, Indiana

In Bluffton, Indiana there are about 5 or 6 of these series lighting circuit regulator poles. The glass insulators are CD 230 Hemingray 512s.

This pole just to the west of this pole.

Yet another great find! Not too often when I see that old street lighting stuff still up. I also like the old Joslyn lightning arresters on the primary arm.

I actually saw some of those metering transformer up close in Marias River Electric's equipment yard in Shelby, Montana... They aren't that big actually.

Thanks IE_RICK for bringing everyone up to speed on what the parts and pieces are (were) on this pole. Sadly, I was through Bluffton a little over a week ago and all their series is gone. However there are still plenty of places this stuff exists... and in a few situations, it's located indoors (!) at central station substations for series lighting. Keep on reporting these things... I own a company that's dedicated to helping keep series lighting circuits in use well into the future!

Sad to hear that the rest of the series is gone. I was hoping to get back down there to photograph a few more poles, because the last time I was down there a lot of the series lighting was gone but still up a year earlier. At least they recycle some glass insulators (Although common) back into service use.
