It takes a couple of weeks for immunity to build up after any dose of the vaccine.

People will need to continue taking actions such as wearing masks and avoiding close contact [as well as isolating if they test +ve or have been in close contact with a +ve case] ...
There's a lot of people who can't [not won't] be vaxxed - medical reasons such as suppressed immune system, needle phobia ... and it those people in particular that need us to keep wearig masks.
