De oorspronkelijk Engelse firma Perry & Co verkocht in Nederland vanaf 1935 de Engelse versie van het spel Monopoly. Toen tijdens de oorlog de Engelse versie opraakte, en om voor de hand liggende redenen geen Engelse artikelen geïmporteerd mochten worden, werd er een Nederlandse versie ontwikkeld. De steden waar zich een vestiging van Perry bevond werden gekozen en het fictieve ‘Ons Dorp’ werd bedacht.
Heden is Perry Sport nog steeds aanwezig in de winkelstraten (maar verkoopt geen bordspellen) en is in eigendom van JDSports. Sommige vestigingen zijn nog steeds te vinden in de op het bord genoemde winkelstraten.

The English version of the game Monopoly was sold in The Netherlands from 1935 onwards by the originally English firm Perry & Co. When during the war the English version sold out, and because of obvious reasons English goods could not be imported, a Dutch version was developed. The cities in which there was a branch of Perry were chosen and the fictive ‘Ons Dorp’ (‘Our Village, the cheapest streets) was devised.
These days Perry Sport is still present in shopping streets (although no board games are sold anymore), and is owned by JDSports. Some branches can still be found in shopping streets mentioned across the board.
