More gigantic junipers, these near Armstrong Pass on the Tahoe Rim Trail, in the Carson Range a few miles inside California. In response to a question of Diane Putnam's a couple weeks back, these "Sierra junipers" are usually considered a subspecies of western juniper (Juniperus occidentalis australis), but some authors elevate them to a separate species (Juniperus grandis).
