Roy is having extreme difficulty with this.

Cropping it won't help, but adjusting the contrast on his monitor might.

What is the opposite of cropping? Roy needs more lead in, or perhaps more walkway in this case, as his eyes are being upset by looking at the main focus of the picture with the lamppost vying for attention on one side. I feel the same when I have to sit behind a post on the bus.

Did that flag also come from Saffron Walden?

The original had more lead-in all round, but compositionally, I found after much trial and error, it works best like this. For once the Union Jack is genuine, but the (partly obscured) red-and-yellow flag in the foreground is in reality blue and white, but there was enough blue and no warm tones in that area. To my eye the lampposts lead into and don't vie for attention with the main buildings.

I'm thinking of going on a 7-day photographic holiday in the Spanish Pyrenees in October. Am I mad? Although I haven't been advised not to travel, I've not been abroad for nearly 3 years.

I'm sure Hovard would enjoy a Pyrenean holiday.
