When Your Lover Has Gone

The standard “When Your Lovers Has Gone” (E.A. Swan) was first brought to the public’s attention in the title sequence for the James Cagney, Joan Blondell 1931 comedy movie “Blonde Crazy”. It was sung by an uncredited tenor.

Following the film’s release, the song was recorded within weeks by Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman and Ethel Waters but Gene Austin (Lemeul Lucas) reached the top ten with his version of “When Your Lover Has Gone”.
