I really hope that it isn't back to 'business as usual' any time soon. We need to be sure it is safe and to learn lessons from this awful pandemic. On a happier note we have noticed less traffic, less noise, less pollution and more visible wildlife during the lockdown. Butterflies can be seen flitting around in the sunshine and locally two porpoises were seen in the canal, - positives that show we can, with care and thought, make a difference. Our new 'normal' will be different after the virus, but I only hope we can make it a better 'normal'.

These are truly positive effects of the crisis, which are also mobilizing environmental activists because they have realized that politicians can, if they only want to or need to. A little more abstinence in any direction would do us all and nature good.

hat sich durch nach all den Kriegen etwas im Denken der Menschheit geändert?
Egoismus wird auch danach noch genauso verbreitet sein wie Vorurteile.

Humanity generally struggles with learning, and nothing happens straight away, but it learns step by step. Please, take a closer look, Katja, and you will be surprised at what is apparently hidden.

The term "egoism" is sometimes used in a very negative connotation, but a careful distinction should be made between healthy and pathological egoism.
Prejudices are widespread and, to my knowledge, often a means to an end. We can learn to handle them properly.

Last but not least: I hope that we will learn our lessons and develop further, also in our sense of responsibility for man and nature. Not hoping would mean for me to give up humankind, in other words resigning. But resignation is not a solution, it is self-sabotage.

Ja, ich denke auch, dass - wie bisher immer - die Menschheit nichts dazu lernt. Wenn sich was ändert, dann nur aus dem Zwang heraus, dass eine unmittelbare Gefahr vermieden werden muss, so wie jetzt der Tod durch den Virus. Wenn diese Krise vorbei ist, dann geht es sehr schnell weiter, wie gehabt - bis zur nächsten Krise.
Wohl können wir etwas dazu tun, dass z.B. die Krise durch die ständig fortschreitende Zerstörung unseres Lebensraumes früher erkannt wird, auch Druck machen ist nützlich, Resignation dagegen nicht.
Zunächst wünsche ich allerseits eine gute Woche!

(Someone has to be the scapegoat for the omissions and/or wrong decisions of others. ;) ) No matter how you do it, you cannot please everyone. In my opinion, it is important to be able to reconcile your decisions with your own conscience.

Who held the powers BEFORE and who holds them AFTER? The answer is obvious and offers no prospect, except utopian ...
Many promises are made by the powers that be. "The world will never be the same again", just like during election campaigns (Trump is just a caricature).
Why should we believe it? What can be done about it?
The problem remains the same, whether from the point of view of climate, health, poverty... And the mobilization of the population, alas, will remain at its sad and low level.
What we are gaining is that our subversive messages are now being traced by the multinationals, just like our health status, and will follow us for the rest of our life.
I'm not too far from retirement and I'm not too worried. But, my friend, I suggest you remain vigilant and sober, in accordance with Orwell and his premonitions...!

ALAS...with a big sigh...it's a horrible reality that people do not learn. And now we are all facing a new outbreak. I can only imagine the numbers will not sink to their previous low until after flu season ends. The shame of so many inconsiderate, disrespectful people that lay at the core of this rekindling of Covid. *SIGH*
