Parque del Oeste, Madrid

Parque del Oeste, Madrid
One of the nicest of Madrid's parks, situated on grassy banks and with fine views to the Sierra de Guadarrama. This was the front line in the siege of Madrid in the Civil War and it took a long time, effort and money to restore and improve this park. But 'hats off!!', I think they did a grand job!

Very many thanks, José Manuel!
I did 23,000 steps yesterday morning, before it got too hot, and before the unmasked lunatics came out in force.
I'm pleased I did, as my walk took me from Cuatro Caminos, via Quevedo, Glorieta de Bilbao and Malasaña to Condé Duque, Plaza de España, Templo de Debod, Parque del Oeste, Moncloa, Chamberí and back home. A very pleasant walk indeed!

It looks like you're finding some nice quiet places to walk in Andy................it looks beautiful there in the sunshine.

Thanks, Keith. I'm trying to time my walks for the morning (when I'm not giving classes - online obviously!) since from about 1pm, the temperature starts to climb towards 40º. The hottest time of the day is around 4-6 as Spain is pretty far off the mark with its time zones (it has the same time zone as Berlin!); which means that mad dogs and Englishman CAN go out in the midday sun and be OK but best slap on that protective cream and wear a hat if you go out and about between 2 and 7.
And that's just advice for mad dogs. Englishmen ought to stay indoors!

Just wow... Were the greenery surpasses the climate (I also noticed it in Seville; in 45°...)
Splendid.

It is VERY well watered, Eric. I had to be careful not to get my mobile phone wet from the rotating sprinklers! But then I am a past master at this from taking shots on the sea coast of Cornwall, dodging the waves and the spray!
