They make full use of the granite boulders here in building (as they do in parts of northern Portugal too).

It is! And of course, they built around and beneath it, the boulder has been there for thousands of years. I'm sure some people think the boulder was transported there from the mountains around!

I don't know Rosa. It is on the edge of a small rise and I imagine it was filled in 100s or even 1,000s of years ago. It wasn't added to anything it was already in situ and the the bricks were added to it. There is a room or two in there I'm sure.
There are two or three more in the village but I couldn't get a good POV.
Many thanks!

Very ingenious and they use rocks for building here in Turkey too. They are very talented stone workers. So beautiful retaining as much of nature as possible.

Wonderful shapes and detail Andy! That boulder has got to weigh a ton or three, it must have taken a lot of effort to put up up there........not sure I get it to be honest!

Don't be daft, Keith, the boulder was there first !!!!!!!!! It's attached to the hillside on the far side! The brickwork is just enclosing a space under it!!! Please see my reply to Rosa, above.
I'm pleased though if you really thought that!
That would be down to the skill of whoever took the photo and took you in!!!!
