Arcaded outer perimeter of the Nuevos Ministerios buildings designed by Secundino Zuazo in the 1920s. Work started in the early 30s, was delayed by the civil war and resumed under Franco who changed the design to suit his own more conservative tastes.

The metro station is a massive affront to the people It was designed to suit. The vanity of the architects and gawd knows who else (all in each others pockets and all went to the right schools so they know best for hoi polo etc) ... If you want to switch from one line to another you need marching boots and a spare 15 minutes.
