Nest

Nest
New this spring, a very loosely made nest of twigs only. There was a bluejay walking around on it, but it flew away. Perhaps it was eating eggs. It didn't seem like it belonged there. Or, maybe it did. What do you think: tinyurl.com/vn7y4fd

Oh, I didn't think of that. I've never seen one in town, though...we'll see.

Jean Paul

I think it's under construction, because I have never seen it before and it is right beside where I park my car. Blue jays are attractive, but they are so obnoxious that it's hard to think of them that way! They make a loud screeching sound, sort of like metal parts scraping together. If you are camping in the woods, they attack your food and carry it away. They will not leave you alone! The male is about 8"/20cm long. Here they are: tinyurl.com/wpskq2p

The Western bluejay, also called the Stellar's jay, is usually in open land and forest areas, not in town, but there was one around my building a few times last summer.

The branches are bare but the birds make the nests: the spring is advancing !!
All the best

I think it's a nest under construction - not very advanced yet.
