So do I - businesses seem to think they need to "update" the entrance! It never looks better than the original. Funny you say that, because when I uploaded these I was wishing they would take that green awning down and remove the yellow wood covering to the right of it! The black and white checkerboard is probably a 1950s addition and the bricks, 1960s.

The bricks are the ugliest bit...
In Germany they have done the same thing after the war- it's a pity because usually the originals are lost forever.

Yes, I agree about the bricks. The tiles are very vintage, so I think they're cute. I have seen much worse than this in town!
