Die Þjóðvegur 1 (Nationalstrasse Nr. 1 auch Hringvegur = Ringstrasse) ist die wichtigste Verkehrsverbindung auf Island.
Sie hat eine Gesamtlänge von 1339 km und ist meistens auch im Winter durchgehend befahrbar.
Bis auf zwei Teilstücke ist sie asphaltiert (Stand Sommer 2017) und darf überall mit normalen, nicht geländegängigen Fahrzeugen befahren werden. Einige Brücken sind nur einspurig befahrbar, bei diversen Kuppen (auch zum Teil nur einspurig) sieht man allfällige entgegenkommende Fahrzeuge nicht. Es empfiehlt sich, die Verkehrsschilder zu beachten.
