A walk around Souther Fell, Cumbria

A walk around Souther Fell, Cumbria
April 2011, another vintage Lakeland capture whilst staying between Keswick and Penrith. On this day we walked around ‘Souther Fell’ in very threatening weather. I remember looking down into this misty scene and thinking I was seeing a Tarn (small lake) scene but as I re-look at this, I am not sure there was water there at all. We never went closer! ~ Oh well, a moody photo and very wet clothing was the results.

Tremendously dramatic creation from such - for that area, in my experience- dull and misty rainy weather. The sharp definition you get of the distant hills is a wonder.

This is very impressive Herb...........such a dark and moody image and perfect in mono.

I love the low-flying clouds and the light filtering through them........and they way they're almost mirrored by the ground-lying fog!

The dark landscape enhances the moodiness brilliantly! 10/10 and my fave photo of today!
