The Giants Causeway – a glimpse

The Giants Causeway – a glimpse
So, we have arrived at the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland itself. Perhaps too much to take in, in any one photo, especially with the hoards of tourist that were clambering on every square meter of rock, or so it seemed. Here we see a few of the 40,000 interlocking basalt columns without human interference. Just over the top horizon is the sea with the coastal hills to my left.
Don’t worry if you want to see a bigger view of all this as I will surely give-up to the pressure of sharing.

Essential full screen

They are so fascinating Herb! A great close-up. My sister-in-law has recently returned Northern Ireland and I saw a photo on Facebook of her going over the rope bridge!

Good evening, Rosa.

Ah there must be more people from the mainland going over there than I imagined Rosa. The rope bridge would have been good to cross but.... it never happened! I shall put some more pics of this area on Ipernity on Thursday.

Have a gud-un. Herb

Hi Herb
A very nice picture, which I like very much!
Wonderful and interesting composition, very different from the usual.
I am so pleased to see that you got there!
We stayed very close to the causeway www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/50659402
And we learned that in the evening you can get in for free, as well as taking your car all the way down to the end of the track. (So you don't have to carry tripod, etc ). That is also when the coach tours have gone, so not many there!! www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/46979476
Best Wishes, a nice week ahead, and stay safe!!

Hi Peter and many thanks for your informative comment here. I have since visited both of your linked photos and left separate comments there.
Yes, a wonderful place indeed and since I had tried to do no research before we went in order not to spoil the effect of seeing it all for the first time, it was a true wonder. You did well to take your car to the end of the track - a boon for the tripod toting. We simply dived in with the crowds and I took what I could. Anyway glad you enjoyed the moment with me.

Best Wishes. Herb
