Saddell Beach

Saddell Beach
A view from this beach to the north east and the Isle of Arran. The castle is behind me here some 200 or so metres.

This is actually the beach that Paul McCartney used in his ‘Mull of Kintyre’ song with his group ‘Wings’. www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrbuDWit1Co

Unfortunately, even though we walked as far as the little cottage featured in the video, just off the beach a little further to my left, there was a party of visitors there, and not knowing the significance of that cottage, left my camera unused. What's more I never realised too, how nice the view from the little point back to the castle might have been. - I always have a decision before such a trip of doing more research and spoiling some of the surprises that come with visiting a new place. In todays case, to my regret. (We did know however that this was the beach used in the filming back then for the song but I never watched the video.)

Enjoy full screen.

I think you berate yourself too much here, Herb!
In any event I never much liked the song, nor Sir Paul's post-Beatles, solo and Wings career. (Surprising perhaps as I always thought he was the more talented and creative of the Beatles' songwriters!).
Still, it's a lovely scene and shot!

Thanks Andy. Very happy that you liked the photo with this very natural view.

We sometimes listen to BBC's Radio Scotland's ' -Your Request with Garry Inness'. Without doubt 'Mull of Kintyre' is played every single week. We actually enjoy the song and music but I can understand not to everyone's taste :)

Enjoy the week. Herb

Thanks Gordon. A very nice place indeed and this was considered perhaps the highlights of the week. Glad you liked the 'wildlife'.

Such a tranquil looking place Herb..............I love the still waters and the beautiful sky, especially with the mountains appearing through the clouds. Even a bird in flight provided you view large, which I recommend.

A very pleasing image.

It's always difficult trying to decide whether to plan stuff or just go with the flow. Either way you'll always have some regrets.

Always nice to visit and see these far-away places Keith. Yes, quite a few seabirds were present. I take on board your comment re my planning. As always, great that you have simply enjoyed the shot.
