Ullapool is a great place Rosa. We have friends who drive up there with their motorhome from Oldham several times every year. We once spent a week just about half-way down this Loch in a hire cottage and found it to be a most wonderful place. We explored the town better on that trip than this, as we only stopped for fuel and a few photos as we had a long way further to drive from here (To Stirling). Like all these late fishing hubs it was once far busier. It is mostly the tourist and ferry traffic that keeps this town going now. Glad you liked the closer look at the town too.

A cracking view in the sunshine along the loch Herb. The snow-capped mountains make a wonderful backdrop and the nearer hills are also very attractive.

I'm guessing that this would once have been chock-full of fishing boats!

Yes the views from here were quite stunning Keith. Like most Scottish and indeed English fishing villages this place would have been heaving with fishing boats and the such in the past. Still a few in here but a shadow of its former glory.
