Summer wild flowers

Summer wild flowers
As we encroach into mid summer here in Oldham, one can delight in the many flowers that are now blooming. Here we see a sample of truly wild flowers including poppies, clovers and cornflower. Wild as they are, they are actually in a recently created house garden and demonstrates the drive in this country to provide more flowers of this type to save our dwindling bee population.

Nice shot Herb, great colours and good sense of depth provided by the houses in the distance.

Hi Doug, the garden belongs to my wife's son's father-in-law and so I could have a walk around it. I too thought that the distant houses added more depth. Cheers for enjoying this with me.

Hi Herb

Superb colours and Great composition, especially by including the houses in the background (as Doug also noticed).

Now you mention it, I have seen an increase in this type of 'flower arrangement' around the place.

Best Wishes

Lots of councils are re-seeding their road boundaries with these now and what a pleasure it is to see it like that. This new garden was already full of bees and insects.

I have never seen so many as we have down here either Herb! Lot's along the A303 and on the outskirts of towns. Such a delight to see. The two pic's you have shown here are equally beautiful :) Cheers, Rosa.

The gardeners have done so well sowing this wild flower patch. As well as poppies and cornflowers I see some yellow rattle. Such a pretty display.

Thanks Amelia. I did not recognise the yellow rattle. I know that some packets of these seeds have as many as 25 varieties of flowers there. As my fife Eileen says - all weeds in reality but of course what are flowers but cultivated weeds. Glad you enjoyed them.

Yes these natural flower meadows are very peasant on the eye, and so attractive to the insects too. We are trying to attract more bees at the moment here in the UK.
