A postcard from 'The Sky Road'

A postcard from 'The Sky Road'
As the evening starts here in County Galway, Connemara, I show a photo from the front of our rented cottage. This has the rather typical weather that we experienced but also shows the wild grandeur of this part of the West Irish coast. To me, not the clear blue skies of idyllic far-away places but a scene that sets my mind in contentment mode.

Angelofruhr, , Steve Paxton, Peter_Private_Box and 14 other people have particularly liked this photo

Ha, ha Lothar, there were the odd sheep around here but not many. There were some thoroughbred horses to the left and right of us here though and some cattle too. It was more the salt air that one could smell. Thanks for the vist.

Clear blue skies can be boring;-) A vista like this with ever changing light is much more enjoyable.

Thanks Gudrun -I must agree with you but I would like too, the chance of getting more deep blue skies on my shots, but we have what we have in weather and as you say, we make the most of that and learn to enjoy it too.

Thanks a lot Richard, I did in fact take some more striking weather shots than this of the same place but I always got those dreaded electricity or phone wires in. Not one of my best quality shots but as you say, 'stacks of atmosphere'.

I was here in 2006 and I would have loved to have a bit more blue sky, but no, I had the same as here and it was August. I never found blue skies boring, never. Why do you want all the year Winter I would know :-(

Hi Daniela, its is good to rekindle old memories for you here. I must admit, living where I do in England, that I crave for clear blue skies without rarely seeing any. As you know too, this was rather average weather for this part of the world (We missed the two months of clear blue warm skies and weather during this rare Summer) and so, I had to make the most with what I had. Don't worry I have some better weather shots from here to show you too. Winter all year... no thanks!

This is a magical low-light image Herb..........full of atmosphere! I love the moody sky with just a few hints of colour, but lovely light. Excellent work.

Thanks a lot my friend. I saw this distant warm lighting reflected off cloud and sea and hoped that I could capture what I witnessed. I see from your words above that I managed it with you.

Thanks Toz, actually this was just down the road a few metres but we saw roughly this from our big French Windows which we could sit in front of with our settee. Just watching the world change by the minute.

Hi Peter, like you, I always take an awful lot of pictures and this two week trip to Irelands west coast provided a lot of reasons to just keep on snapping. What you are seeing here so far are only a small proportion of the first couple of days in the north. Glad you like them.
