South Stack, Anglesey

South Stack, Anglesey
Another of Britain's iconic coastal scenes. This is on the far west coast of Anglesey, Wales.

Taken during a visit in 2015 and posted now after a realisation that I had not shared these scenes with you my Ipernity viewers. Enjoy full screen.

A beautiful photo, the thrift in the foreground adds a nice splash of colour! Did you watch the birds? I guess all the white spots on the rocks are kittiiwakes.

Hi again my friend. Yes indeed, there is in fact a special RSPB bird lookout just above me here. There were a lot of different gulls, choughs and even some peregrine falcons, razor-bills,
guillemots and kittiwakes too but.. we never saw the puffins.
Have you been there?

Cheers, Herb

I visited South Stack many years ago, but didn't have much time there because I used public transport on a day trip from Bangor. I didn't see any puffins either. During the day they are usually out at sea.

I don't imagine it has changed much though Toz. We used to go quite a lot and then we left it for some years until 2015 but not been back since. That being said we went passed Anglesey on our way from Aberdarron a few weeks back. Glad you kike anther of my coastal shots here.

A great perspective on this iconic lighthouse................the beautiful pink thrift makes for lovely foreground interest. Super composition and very well taken Herb.

Always glad when one of my photos works for you Keith. I have just found my very early slide conversions done many years back from the identical spots as these two but they look rubbish compared to these new digital images.

The same but different! We have a lot of coastal fauna so it befits to use it on scenes like this.

A fine 'take' indeed!

Hi Andy, yes the same kind of hard rock coves etc. You got to admit though, that this lighthouse on what is technically called 'Holy Island' (another one!) is somewhat special. Glad you like it.

Cheers, Herb.
