The South Phoenix Mine, Minions, Cornwall - for Andy

The South Phoenix Mine, Minions, Cornwall - for Andy
Also known as the Prince of Wales shaft. Seen here from the back.
This old tin and and later, copper mine is situated near the village of Minions on the Bodmin Moor of Cornwall UK. It operated in the 19th century but closed in 1914. it was part of the Phoenix United Mine group.

There's a terrific pub / guest house in Minions, Herb.
If I could remember it's name I would recommend it to you for your next visit!
Fine shot!

You must be talking about 'The Cheesewring' free house pub/hotel on the corner of the village. Very tempting for us too with folk sat outside taking a bite to eat with their pints. Not enough time for us to do that -photography and exploring getting into the way! Have you visited these mines too Andy?
Cheers, Herb

I confess to confusing my Cornish place names, Herb.
Sorry.
I meant The Mithians Arms in Mithians, a small village near St Agnes! And no I haven't visited Minions, let alone it's mine! My loss!

Just seen this comment Gordon. My thanks. I do wish that Ipernity could do one of the things that Panoramio did - that was to send emails of every new comment to a photo. Unless we accidently look back on a photo we very rarely see new comments to old photos on here. Ah well.

It was a great area to explore with many places like this.
