Lake Dowerin

Lake Dowerin
On the night of new moon Perth was under clouds so we drove due east this is about 2 1/2 hours from home. we are standing on the edge of a salt Lake with a road the runs through the middle of it to the right next to top of horizon you can see the water when we got there venus was reflected on the water but you have to walk out in the soft mud to get there next to the edge of the water so we all gave that a miss.

David is like Me shooting middle of shot, Carl is walking down from the car follow the headlight he is wearing further to the right. Have you met Carl and David before

The Bow

The sky was black but for the lights of the small town out in the wheat field area. in this shot is the lights of the town of Northham. The dead trees at the edge of the road was out main target with the Milky way behind.

The Emu is well over the shot...for those that cant see it see below...

It was very cold and I got to 7 layers of clothing the temp dropped to 5c and it also was dew fall that can cause a very bad dew on the lens. I got home finally at 1:45 am and jumped into bed.

Another wonderful Milky Way picture from you Steve. If you had not mentioned the lake I would have missed it but once seen, it is an essential part. The gold pot at the end of the bow gives you the prize. I have seen and commented on the middle shot before.

Well done again you have certainly mastered all this. Herb

The trees make both shots But that is what you expect about a salt lake Dead trees always something to find. This is my first time with a real salt lake I did not expect the temp drop or the dew fall. As you know my first real love of night photography and a long time between drinks. Glad you like the view of the wild west way out in the west.
