Nine Pin

Nine Pin
The night after i arrived in NZ it was a clear night ( nothing but heavy cloud since i was lucky) so i went out to Whatapu head on the west coast looking Due west . the very last of the milky way for this season is sitting just above the horizon. Nine Pin ( Light house)and Moon are the light sources for this shot. My lap top dies third day got it fixed only to have it fail again. so a new one coming this is stitched cropped but not edited. shot low tide with the tide rising. first shot of the night. Enjoy a different land

neira-Dan, buonacoppi, Erhard Bernstein, and 3 other people have particularly liked this photo

What a wonderful pano, viewing large gives you a feeling of being there! A pity you're having such bad weather now, I did read something about flooding and storms in NZ...

Thanks Gudrun i have just read in my be my last till i get home and have the serial numbers to my programs on the new lap top but i am praying.... Yes i was lucky not going to happen any time soon at the moment no rain but heavy clouds. i brought my night gear just in case i was chased out by clouds gathering.this was not the pano i wanted to put up but the laptop crash changed all that. the best is yet to come.

John this was shot behind the Rock to protect out the light from Auckland . i am surprised there is no light line showing from the light house on the rocks as it certainly cut a line. The moon was at 18% so was very low i used my lights on the rocks i had in front of me. Many thanks.

Ko i though i may just get lucky this is the last view we have this year. i was a little worried about being on the sand bar and the rising tide but was chased out by the clouds that blew in from the south. its still always a pleasure to enjoy the night sky. many thanks i will leave NZ with this as the back ground on my fathers laptop a place he knows well.

As usual, your star shots mixed with these seascapes are outstanding Steve. Glad that you have now got your computer sorted. I look forward to seeing more of the same.
