Great egrets have recently returned to Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge. They nest in the tops of bald-cypress trees that grow in Bluff Lake.

Yes, they are beautiful birds. At this stage they are elegant. In a few weeks, they will be joined by tens of thousands of others working desperately to bring their babies food. It is quite an ordeal for them.
