Aqueduct and viaduct

Fantastic perspective! You have even caught a train on the viaduct. It seems the aqueduct goes into a tunnel, does the footpath also go there?

Yes there is a tunnel with a towpath, Gudrun. It is 421 metres (460 yd) long and is dark and not very good underfoot, or wasn't the last time we walked through it. Maybe it's better now. The tunnel is straight enough to be able to see if a boat is already inside the tunnel (boats are required to show a light).

I'd feel rather uncomfortable walking through the tunnel! I guess the boats look carefully before they go in.
