I notice 5 people think it's a good idea but only 1 has joined the group ???

It's not a problem. Everyone can join on the 19th - but only those who join ahead will get a reminder ipermail.

If one joins the group before the 19th, one will receive a reminder ipermail a day or two before. If people are anything like me, remembering to do something on a random Thursday is not easy!

You are correct. The photo needs to be taken on August 19th, but the subject matter is completely up to you. The idea is to see each person's individual vision of the day. Some examples are: You can take something that shows your connection to photography, literally or emotionally. You can create an abstract. You can simply take a snapshot or create your most creative best artwork from the day.

Mostly it is for fun to connect us all together as one for a day.

Also, you have until the end of August to put the photo into the group.

When you join the group, I will send you a welcome ipermail with more details.
