Today dawned nice and bright with a slight breeze. Mandi and I decided today would be a great day to visit Hartland as it'd been many years since she last went there - she went with her dad and that must have been at least 30 years ago and so she wanted to go there.

We thought that as we were going past Asda and we wanted to get todays supper, we'd go shopping on the way back - otherwise I'd be too knackered to be able to enjoy myself taking pictures.

As we approached Hartland, the clouds started rolling in and we both said - uh oh - but we carried on and I'm so glad we did.

The clouds blew away and the sky was a lovely blue. Mandi hadn't realised how steep the cliff road would be and she kept saying that she hoped the brakes would keep working...... she wasn't the only one!!!

See the tide was out quite a while and so we could see more of the beach......

The wind was cold enough to cut you in half. Boy oh boy am I glad I wore two jumpers - Mandi wore a leather jacket and a scarf - but she was still cold.

There were some lovely rock pools............

There was enough wind to make the waves crash a lot...........

This place never ceases to call to me with it's rugged beauty......

The hotel has acquired a new name - it used to be called Hartland Quay Hotel and I think the new name of Wreckers Retreat is much better..........

There is helpful suggestions of where to walk or what you can see.............

Some steps have been carved out of the cliffs so you can reach the top and then walk along the cliff path..............

On the drive home so many verges on the roads were full of spring flowers........

...... daffodils are plentiful................
