I have this plant in my lounge, which I've shown you before. When I moved in here in 1999, I found it in the fireplace in my lounge and it looked exceedingly sad and drooped. So I transferred it into another pot and took it upstairs into my bedroom, put it in front of the window and gave it a stern warning - flowers please soon, or else I'll have to plant you outside!!!!! LOL

Well two years later it gave me about 4 flowers, but it was a smallish plant, so 4 was a good amount. Over the years it started giving me more and more flowers, and then about 5 or so years ago - when Mickey came down to visit, we brought it downstairs, re-potted it and put it infront of the bay window. Mickey very kindly unwound the many branches and stems and we were able to train them around a wigwam of bamboo sticks. Each year passing, it gave me more and more flowers. When Emily first came, she asked about the hoya, and between us we again repotted it and got longer bamboo sticks. In the two years since we did that - we've not been able to control the growth very well - poor Emily keeps on having to tie the shoots down and winding them around each other. My ceilings are around 14ft high, and if I were to unwind the hoya a bit, it would certainly reach the ceiling and more.

The flowers drip a nectar which is very highly scented, and so when there are more flowers on the plant, the scent is very strong and at times overpowering...

You can see half of this plant here - and look at all those flowers!!!!! I don't think I've ever seen so many flowers on it before - maybe using Baby Bio in the water isn't helping to control the flowers!!!

You see - there are simply flowers everywhere. you can see the nectar dripping out of each flower, this is what's heavyily scented and at times, it's overpowering when you come into the lounge before the windows are opened...

It's one of my favourite flowers in my lounge I must admit, but the geraniums are also quite scented, but they give me petals which I can use in my pendants!!

These petals will be used in my pendants by the weekend - why not - they're free. I hope you all have had a good day - it's been sunny here, cold though, but sunny which helps.

Happy birthday Mickey again - I do hope you've had a good day. Love and hugs from Mandi to you.
