Well day before yesterday, we had awful sleet and later on - rain. Same again yesterday and it really went very cold......
I took a picture of the sleet and could understand why Pippin totally refused to go outside!!! He did seem to be asking me to stop the sleet so he could go outside, but I did apologise and told him that this was way beyond my control. He just sat there with a sort of air of "Humph" about him!!!! Then I looked up at the window above the back door and the normally dry window looked like this.....
This showed that the wind had changed direction and was raining solidly, interspersed with hail and sleet.......
So yesterday and the day before meant I had to have the lights on all day, together with the radiator and halogen fire so I could stay warm. Then this morning I woke up to a totally different world.....
The rain had dropped and the clouds had cleared away and there was colour in the sky that wasn't different shades of grey!!!!
You can see that the sun is shining through the window and the plants are relishing being in the sunshine again, after such a long time. It felt so good not having to put the lights on and even though the sun was shining in the lounge, I still needed to put the radiator on as it was still chilly. The temperatures were about 9C (48F) but seeing that wonderful sun lighting up my room was wonderful.
You can see the blue sky and in fact the whole sky was clear blue. It is so lovely seeing it as you can imagine. I feel so sorry for those who have had to evacuate their homes because of the flooding, it's bad enough having that in the summer, but in the winter? How awful for them, and then you have the animals who suddenly find themselves homeless and treading water. They say we have more of the rain on its way and due to be coming tomorrow, so it was good to see this - even if it's just a short visit!
My neighbours, Anne and Peter, have gone on holiday to Portugal, and are due back on Sunday. To be perfectly honest - I don't think I'd leave here while this Coronavirus is still growing and growing with so many countries suddenly finding themselves with patients. There's a lot to be said for being housebound, but I still have visitors ie neighbours, delivery drivers, postmen and friends etc. and you don't know who they've talked to, so it's a very scary time for us all. When you read the symptoms - it's almost like describing flu or a bad cold - it's Winter, so how can we discern the difference between a normal cold or this virus?
Well I'm off to start putting away the shopping my delivery driver has just delivered. Take care of yourselves out there,
It's a worrying time, no doubt, though I can't help feel the press are blowing it up out of all proportion, especially in the UK. We only have 16 case confirmed so far, which is very small considering our population size. Fingers crossed it'll blow over soon.
Hoping for sunshine soon though forecast for Friday, here, isn't good at all.
Jenny McIntyre club has replied to Bee OrchidWe've had a lot of wet and windy weather, but not much flooding around here. I live up a hill, so if get flooded, the rest of you will be needing aqualungs !! I got stranded by Ciara and beat Dennis home by hours ... forecast is for another one over the weekend, say ¡Hola! to Jorge ... just what the Rivers Wye and Severn do not need, more rain.
Garden is slowly waking up and one of my neighbours is expecting lambs in a week or two. They go away and into the big shed next week. Another still does his outside, but not for a month.
