The Laundry Rooms & 2 PiPs.
The laundry rooms in the courtyard of Kingston Lacy House ~ It is nice to see the wonderful paintings by Rubens and Titian inside the house, and the opulence of that time, but the family could not exist without an army of hard working servants, and the laundry must have been one of the most demanding and physical jobs of all.

Never ever heard of such a "device"...
It is very clever, physical side apart, but it should very demanding to operate.
One never knows how it was until ...
Thank you for the explanation.

Thanks for including the notes in the PiPs. The two that really catch my interest is the two mangles - the ordinary one and the box mangle (which seems essentially to be an ironing machine!
Wouldn't it be interesting if we could go back in time and show them the machines we have nowadays to do the same jobs.
You really are good at getting these internal images.........something I find really difficult!
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Keith Burton clubYes, it would be very interesting to go back in time, as long as there was a way back ;-)
Did you ever see the time travel comedy with Nicholas Lyndhurst called "Goodnight Sweetheart"? I would love to be able to do that!!
Thanks again for your very kind comment Keith.

Edna Edenkoben club has replied to Rosalyn Hilborne clubAnd yes, a nice old Singer sewing machine. I'm terrible at sewing though, but my mom used to sew beautiful dresses for the family. Sewing was just a hobby of hers, but she was really good at it. I guess she was trained by my grandma who was a professional seamstress.
Have a nice evening, Rosa!
