Christmas Rose

The above picture was taken in my garden today and the PiP was taken in Stourhead. ~ Helleborus Niger, commonly called Christmas rose or black hellebore, is an evergreen perennial flowering plant in the buttercup family, Ranunculaceae. It is poisonous. Although the flowers resemble wild roses, Christmas rose does not belong to the rose family.

Lovely captutre of this rose Rosalyn, surprising how many varieties are in bloom as we walk round the gardens, I've seen Daffodils and Snowdrops in full flower, Tulips in bud, the Forsythia already showing yellow leaf.
