Hi Rosa,

A very nice looking pub in what I guess was an old 'canal officials' house..

I also remember somebody telling me a story recently of how all the ducks disappeared from the local river at around the same time as the local restaurant had a lot of duck dishes on the 'specials' board..... MMMMMMM!.

Best wishes and a good week ahead

Hi Peter,

I think it was a mill as it has some old writing on the side of the building. They were very busy but still produced a very good meal. They had a three floor restaurant! I am glad I didn't choose duck though ;-))

Best wishes for a great week,
Rosa.

A nice old building it looks as though it had another storey added at some time, a bit of that sun would have been good today, a miserable day

Not sure about that Peter. I don't know the town well enough, but will go back to take a better look around soon. Yesterday was very nice here and it looks like a nice day today....I hope it's the same with you! Have a good week.

Thank you for your kind comment Jean. Always good to see an old building take on a new use that saves it from deteriorating.

The outside seating area looks very comfortable, and the pub looks so inviting. So pleased that you enjoyed Mother's Day, Rosa.

Thank you Amelia. The third floor had a kind of veranda type balcony....probably a name for it, but I don't know it. Anyway, a beautiful view along the river from there.

A super set! Reminds me of recent articles or letters in The Times about why one can't find old style granary bread any more. And the answer is that you can but it ain't called that any more because it is a fiercely defended Hovis trade name!

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Andy Rodker club
That's interesting Andy. So I wonder what it's called now then? There are quite a few mills around here that make it and many small cafes sell it, so I will have to take note of what they call it!
