The windows in the Eiger North Face.
Die Fenster in der Eigernordwand.

Die ► Eiger-Nordwand ist mit einer Höhe von über 1'800 m eine der grössten Nordwände der Alpen.
Die ► Jungfraubahn, die von der Kleinen Scheidegg aufs Jungfraujoch fährt, passiert die Eigernordwand. An zwei Stellen sind Fenster in die Wand eingelassen, von denen man während eines kurzen Haltes der Bahn auf Grindelwald hinunterschauen kann.
Die beiden Fenster sind in der Vergrösserung (rote Pfeile) gut erkennbar.

Gudrun, ja, das stimmt. Und wenn man da aus dem Fenster guckt, kann es vorkommen, dass du ein paar Kletterer siehst, die da die Nordwand hochsteigen.
=> HIER kannst du in etwa den Verlauf der Bahn sehen.

Excellent. Are they just below The Spider?. I remember reading lots of Eiger North Face books years ago and some photos show this place, feared by all climbers.

Yes, Andy, the "Spider" is a few hundred meters above this point.
=> HERE you see the 'Heckmair Route' and the Spider is marked as "Spinne".
And the windows are in the region of the "Hinterstoisser Quergang".

Ah, Poly war wieder einmal am Eiger, odr ;-)? Wenn ich so nah wohnen würde, führ ich auch immer wieder mal hin! Mich erinnert der Berg stets an den Film "Im Auftrag des Drachen"...

Du kannst natürlich auch gerne 'live' kommen, musst dir aber bewusst sein, dass du die Fahrt mit etwa 120 Chinesen teilen wirst ;-)

Die Fenster wirken ja winzig, da bekommt man dann eine Vorstellung von den Dimensionen.

hab einmal zur Besteigung des Mönch die Bahn benutzt und auch durch das Loch geguckt. Das ist schon beeindruckend, besonders wenn man daran denkt, wie viele Bergrettungen von hier aus gestartet wurden.

A staggering capture my friend. This excellent close-up really captures the grandeur of this rock face. On closer inspection we can see the two windows of which I too have gazed out-off, down to the village of Gridelwald far below. ⭐ Congratulations and thanks for the link to all of this from my Eiger .

Yes, it is really astonishing! In Panoramio I had even a more closer shot of it. I have to go in my archives and look for it.....

Karen, yes, there is an extra stop with the rack railway and you have the opportunity to look out the window. Sometimes you can even see climbers in the wall!
The blue dotted line is the course of the track of the railway inside the mountain.

Karen, yes, it is a spectacular place! And because all tourists in the world know this by now, it is a much frequented place. Every year the Jungfraujoch is visited by over a million tourists! So you have to plan your visit very well. Best in the early morning or in the late afternoon, when the mass tourists from Asia are already back in the hotel.
