Rainbow over Rannoch Moor
|
|
The climate lends itself to frequent rainbows. This scene would have been visible to cyclists on the cross-Britain Cycle Ride (assuming they still had the energy to take in their surroundings after 5 days on the road)

Lochan na h-Achlaise

In the heart of desolate Rannoch Moor, but conveniently adjacent to a parking spot on the A82.
Loch Achtriochtan
Black Rock Cottage

A standard highlands photo opportunity - I was alerted by the presence of a small group of Irish photographers
Beinn a' Chrulaiste

This mountain is a "Munro" (over 3000ft / 914m), seen from the approach to Glencoe Mountain Resort.

Wallace Monument

There is a small area around the tower on Abbey Crag, including a terrace with view over Stirling.

Checking the map, these would seem to be the Menteith Hills. Loch Lomond is beyond, at the southern end.

Stone knot

The decorative stonework around the monument ends (or begins) with this playfully decorative feature
Ochil Hills
Forth Oxbow
|
|
I remember oxbow lakes from geography lessons at scholl. This is the Forth River looping to the north of Stirling
Loch Leven Safety Boat
|
|
I spent a while wandering the loch-side at Ballachulish and this "safety boat" caught my eye (as did the amazing scenery, of course).

RML 2760 Route 3

Local bus operator Southern Transit runs a tourist-oriented route approximately tracking the former railway line from Horsham down to the coast at Shoreham-by-Sea.
On the recent Bank Holiday, they put out a former London Routemaster. You'll note that they've taken the trouble to supply a full set of blinds. It's turned out very smart indeed.
