The bridge opened in 1975, replacing a long-established ferry. It strongly reminds me of some of the bridges on Highway 101 in Oregon.

The exterior walls are a distinctive colour, rendered in Royal Gold harling, as they would have been in the 1500s. This colour was uncovered during renovation work in 1999.
