So ein schönes,einladendes Gasthaus gib's bei uns leider nicht mehr lieber Keith,bei uns ist alles schon zu modern geworden,ich finde dieses Alte viel gemütlicher und man fühl sich viel wohler,obwohl ich jetzt nach meinen 2 Krebse nicht mehr so oft ins Gasthaus gehe,ich ziehe die Ruhe und Stille der Natur vor,aber deine Aufnahmen haben mir sehr gut gefallen und ich verstehe dich,wenn du das öfters aufsuchst :))

Wow Keith what a fabulous village/town you live in. I think I passed through Havant several times when I lived in Kent. I just remember the lovely houses there. Thanks for showing us the writings on the plaque.

Glad you like this one Jenny.............the pub is lovely. If I'm honest Havant has become a bit of a dump in my opinion, after years of neglect. They're spending millions on the surrounding shopping malls, but doing very little to maintain what used to be a lovely town centre. We have very little to show there except for charity shops, nail bars, barbers and hairdressers, not to mention a shop for just about every mobile phone company. Rant over!

Sounds very familiar... It's just the same here- rents in the town centre are astronomical so the good independent shops give up and we are left with just the same unappealing mixture. In larger towns like ours you can add chains for cheap clothes and sneakers...I try to avoid the town centre as much as I can;-)

It must be so nice to have a viable pub where one lives. There used to be 3 thriving establishments in our village. One is now a private house, another is very occasionally open for B&B, and the other one is for sale, opens very occasionally for football matches and hasn't been a good pub for about 10 years

I suppose you're right Amelia, this is one of half a dozen or so pubs in the town centre and surrounds, but to be honest I don't go to any of them..........I find them far too noisy and crowded nowadays. I much prefer a nice quite pub in the countryside or beside the sea, but even those are becoming few and far between.

Ein wunderschönes altes Haus, das zum Glück nicht abgebrannt ist und offenbar gut erhalten wird. Solche Häuser prägen das Stadtbild, nicht die Billigläden und Einkaufszentren.
