I am so impressed with the detail in these beautiful pictures! I am also impressed with the smooth out of focus backdrop, which enhances both the flower and bee. I can't pick one shot better than the other....they are both superb.

Thanks very much Rosa...........I spent quite a lot of time getting some decent shots and you wouldn't believe how many I ended up deleting. I'm lucky in that besides these flowers, I also have some tall Verbena, which the bees also like, which enable me to get shots without having to bend down to much!

I'm really please you like the shots..........it always makes the effort worthwhile :-)

A Wonderful macro keith

Wow Keith - you've got purple loosestrife like me and you can see that bees love that flower. You have managed to capture an absolutely stunning macro of this bee. I wish I had managed to get such a crisp picture of my bee on the flower, but I tend to shake a bit. Must get a tripod. Do you see the huge amount of honey that it's got in its legs?

Thank you Jenny.............I'm pleased. you like these two shots............a tripod might help a bit, but for anything that might move you need to be able to set a pretty hight shutter speed and depending on the light you may have to use a very high ISO setting as well. And be prepared to delete lots of out-of-focus images :-)))

Yes..........I find a long telephoto is pretty good for close up shots of bees and butterflies and the like that can be difficult to get near! I often use this lens and and my 40-150mm for this sort of shot. You usually have to crop a bit as well.
