You must have a very steady hand Keith. The detail is superb, especially when viewed large. The PiP is superb. I love the detail in the grasses. Is this the same Heron that you photographed in flight earlier?

They keep forecasting snow, and I keep hoping, but haven't seen any signs of it yet!

It is the same Heron Rosa.......I got the main image first, then the in-flight one, then I got the image in the PiP when it came back. It didn't go far, just into the trees nearby.

I was lucky enough to be able to lean on the car to steady myself for these two shots.

No sign of snow here either, thankfully..........but it's rained heavily most of the day. Have a good week yourself :-)

A beautiful bird and two wonderful images, both with stunning detail and great colour, I like the reflections in the main image and the head of the heron with the magnificent eye colour and sharpness in the pip, Simply fabulous,
I can never get close enough for shots like this.

To be honest, I didn't have to do too much.........there is a car park next to the pond and the Heron was standing very still. It even waited for me to change lenses :-)). I'm not complaining though..

How fortunate for you. It's great seeing it just standing there - probably waiting to see if it can catch anything.

You're right Jenny...........we had only stopped to feed the ducks and were not expecting to see a Heron so close by and it didn't seem bothered by us at all.

Both photos are excellent, you caught the heron really well! Waiting für some careless fish to come near the surface;-)
