Wenn die Schwarzweiße Erdwanze gestört wird, kann sie durch das Reiben ihrer Hinterflügel am Hinterleib, Zirptöne erzeugen. Diese Töne dienen der Verteidigung, sind für das menschliche Ohr allerdings nicht hörbar :))

It grows to about 5 to 7.5 millimeters in length. The body is glossy black with characteristic white spots on the forewings. The pronotum has a white lateral margin that extends only to the middle. When disturbed, the black-and-white ground bug can produce chirping sounds by rubbing its hindwings against its abdomen. These sounds serve as a defense mechanism but are inaudible to the human ear.
