Both the contrails and the rocks point to the headland whose the cliffs are layered with compressed oil bearing shale and the rocks contain fossils both Ammonite and Vertebras,

Thank you Maurice, to be honest I thought you had as well, however the fence protects a public footpath that is part of the English coast walkway and here it runs close to the cliff edge.
